Textile Floral Wall Hanging

This is the third in a series of floral wall hangings I've designed using recycled fabrics.  Each piece in the design has been individually cut and machine appliqued to a light canvas background; the entire piece is then embellished with beading.  I personally think these hangings look especially pretty hung in a window so the light can shine through!

Rug Hooking 'Hit or Miss'

I've written about this before, but hit or miss designs are neither hit nor miss!  They are a great way to use up wool strips from past projects, but the term 'hit or miss' sounds very random.  In fact, it takes a lot of colour planning in order to make sure the final product is well balanced in colour and tone.  Here are two of my recent pieces - rug hooked hot pads - using this method.

Shabby Chic Floral Arrangement

After working on a heavy wool rug for the past  several weeks, I decided to try something lighter and more whimsical.  The design on this sweet floral arrangement incorporates upcycled textiles machine stitched onto canvas, and embellished with tiny beads to catch the light.  The details of this hanging show up especially well when hung in a window to let the light shine through.

I have a few more ideas up my sleeve.... maybe using old windows to frame some larger pieces?

Hooked Wool Rug

This 100% wool rug hooked on burlap has been my full time job for the past 6 weeks!  I loved working on it - but also love that it's finally finished.   It's one of my larger pieces, measuring 35" x 21".  This thick, lush rug would be great at home or at the cottage, in front of a fireplace, in a short hallway, beside the bed - anywhere you want a touch of cozy warmth!

Needle Felted Floral Wall Hanging

I've really missed needle felting this winter, but - with all the bits of fuzzy wool rovings that find their way into every nook and cranny - it's definitely an "outdoor sport"!  Over the last month, we've had a few lovely warm sunny days - so I've been able to work out on the deck.  NICE!

This sweet little floral wall hanging incorporates hand-dyed wool rovings, and tiny beads to catch the light. The piece measures 10 1/2" x 6 3/4" (excluding twig).
