Rug Hooked Chair Pad

I hooked this whimsical chair pad using some of the beautiful handspun woolen yarns I was gifted by a friend.  The chicken is in lovely earthy tones of rusts, oranges and browns; the background in a greeny taupe. The backing on this particular piece is from a recycled burlap coffee bean bag!  I love any opportunity to recycle!

Rug Hooked Chair Pad

Last week, I spent three lovely days at my friend Joan's cottage - along with another friend, Pam.  The three of us have known each other since our early school days (Joan and I went to kindergarten together!).  We went out on a beautiful canoe ride; and enjoyed a nice long walk along the cottage road.  Of course, we also ate well - and enjoyed our evening "cocktails"!  I was also able to sit out on the deck and finish this little "bird on a berry branch" chair pad - just in time to sell it at Thursday market!

Needle Felted Wall Hanging

One of the great things about meeting my customers face-to-face is that I find out where my work is going!  I love to hear that one of my pieces will be "perfect on that chair in the kitchen", or "hanging on the wall in mom's bedroom"!!  It's always nice to know that the work is appreciated, and going to a good home.  So when I heard the story behind the purchase of this needle felted wall hanging - that it was meant to lift the spirits of a family member who had recently suffered a loss -  I was especially gratified and moved.

Sunflower Rug Hooked Chair Pad

I wasn't even finished this sunflower chair pad, when it was bought up by a lovely couple I met a few years ago - annual cottagers who make a point of visiting the Lakefield Farmers' Market when they're here for their vacation.  I had the piece finished for them when they returned the following week.

This chair pad was hooked using some of the beautiful handspun yarns I was recently "gifted", and I especially loved working with the various tones and textures of yellow yarns used in the flower.
